Mobile food vendors in the City of Richland must have the appropriate permit(s) and follow the requirements below.

Vehicle Based Food Service (Mobile Food Vendors)

Vehicle Based Food Service Vendors (Mobile Food Vendors) must have a business license. This license covers both the State and the City.

1. Apply through the State of Washington Department of Revenue
2. Fill out our Mobile Food Vendor Addendum

An "itinerant merchant" is a vendor that is stationary and operates for a long period of time in a parking lot or City property. Itinerant merchants should complete a Temporary Business License application.

Requirements

You must have the following items before business license approval:

• Valid Benton-Franklin Health District Permit
• City of Richland Fire Department Vehicle Inspection Approval
• Approval from entity that owns the underlying land where operating:
  • City of Richland Parks and Facilities Contract/Approval (if operating on City property)
  • Permit, written agreement, or contract from property owner (if operating on private property)
• Detailed map of proposed location and layout

If your business cooks food in a vehicle or uses propane or gas, the City of Richland Fire Department must inspect your vehicle and give approval before we can finish your application. If your vehicle needs an inspection, call us at 509-942-7718 to schedule.
