Richland Energy Services (RES) provides high quality, reliable electric service; however, sometimes power outages do occur within our system. The most common reasons for outages are: wind storms, squirrels, or vehicle accidents involving electrical infrastructure. Your call to report an outage helps us restore power safely and efficiently.

Report an Outage

Crews are on-call around the clock to restore power as quickly as possible when an outage occurs.

To report an outage:

• Monday-Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.: 509-942-7421
• Outside normal hours, on weekends, or on City-observed holidays: 509-943-4428.

When extensive power outages occur, information and updates will be posted on our Facebook Page.

If you are experiencing an outage, please check the following before you call:

• Is the whole house out of power?
• Check your circuit breakers and fuses.
• Are your neighbors out of power too?
• Do you see a tree limb on a power line or a line down?
• Did you hear a loud noise, boom, or explosion?

Remember: Always stay away from downed power lines and please don’t call 911 to report power outages.

When you call, please be prepared to provide the following information:

• Location of the outage
• Name
• Telephone number
• Description of the problem you are experiencing

Scheduled Power Outages

Periodically, Richland Energy Services may need to temporarily shut off power. This allows Power Operations crews or contractors to safely perform maintenance on electrical facilities. When we determine the need for a scheduled power outage, we will make every attempt to notify customers in advance. Notification may be by telephone, mail, door hanger or personal contact.
