Ways to $ave Energy

Saving Energy is EASY!

Reducing energy use in the home is easier than you think. It is not about taking away any comforts from the home. It is about being energy wise!

  • Close shades and drapes to keep heat out during the day in the summer and cold out in the winter.
  • Change HVAC air filters monthly.
  • Plug electronic devices such as cable boxes, printers and TVs into power strips to turn off during vacation or long periods without use.
  • Keep your garage door down. A warmer garage in the winter and cooler garage in the summer will save energy.
  • Use dishwasher's air-dry cycle instead of the heat-dry cycle to dry dishes.
  • Set water heater temperature no higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ensure refrigerator door seals are tight.
  • Make sure dryer vent hose is not kinked or clogged.
  • Outside your home, caulk or replace window or door seals that are broken or in need of repair.
  • Replace any light bulb, especially ones that are on more than one hour per day, with an LED bulb.
